3. Questions and answers to help you evaluate
the benefits of a GoodWood & Co franchise

What will owning and running a GoodWood & Co franchise do for me?
First you have the exciting opportunity to be independent by owning and operating your own
business with a very moderate start-up cost.

Goodwood & Co will assist you with the initial and ongoing development of your exclusive
territory where the limitations on expansion is based only around your willingness to succeed.
When starting your franchise we give you extensive training, help with marketing and total
support in all aspects of running your business. Being part of a growing Goodwood & Co
community means you can feel confident you are following a proven operating system that
uses unique products which are mostly without competition in wood care. By developing
your business as part of the Goodwood & Co group, it allows you to find out first hand and
be kept up to date about new products and techniques on the market which can be
incorporated into your business. Together with leads that are generated from time to time
through head office, working as a group enables you to exchange various business ideas
and stay informed of problems and solutions that may arise, that you have not yet encountered.

What is special about a GoodWood & Co franchise?
Goodwood & Co franchise owners will market and apply a range of timber finishes made
by the Flood Company Australia, also a manufacturer of paint additives such as well known
Penetrol and a range of exterior and interior wood finishes for over 25 years. These timber
finishes are unique and among the very best available. In fact, they last up to 5 times longer
than conventional finishes and they stand out by offering a 2 year guarantee on decking and
4 year guarantee on sidings.

How much money am I likely to make?
That depends to a large extent on the way you apply yourself to the task. We cannot give
you exact figures but judging from past experience you should recoup your investment within
24 - 32 months after commencement, allowing for living expenses during that period. We
suggest that you make a business plan to determine what income you need during the
establishment period.

What is required from me as a GoodWood & Co franchised contractor?
Above all, you will need the will to succeed. You will be given the tools to do so but you will
have to apply them yourself. You will need to have a pleasant and outgoing manner, be
properly dressed at all times when attending customers, convince prospects that you will
do a better job than a competitor, be able to close a sale, look for opportunities in your
neighbourhood and in general act and work in a professional manner.

What experience is necessary to become a GoodWood & Co franchised contractor?
NONE. If you possess common sense, are not afraid of hands on work, are willing to learn and
put your knowledge into practice, then there is no reason that you will not succeed. Running
a GoodWood & Co franchise is not rocket science.

What will it cost me to become a franchised GoodWood & Co contractor?
The cost is inexpensive compared to other franchises, with numerous advantages and benefits
given in return for the $15,000 franchise fee. There are some other one off starting fees which
you will need to consider when making your decision; this is wether part of the franchise system
or working a similar system as an independent operator. These costs are determined against
what starting equipment, initial training and local advertising you require to get your franchise
up and running.

What are the ongoing fees?
NONE. GoodWood & Co is looking at the relationship with our franchise owners as a partnership
on a long term basis and we will be quite satisfied with our returns from the products you
purchase from us over time.

Do I have to sign a long term contract?
The Franchise is generally 5 years with a further 5 years option. The 5 year option does not
incur a further franchise fee.

Can I sell my business if I want to?
Yes. However, to protect the integrity of the franchise operation the purchaser will have to have
our approval prior to operating a GoodWood & Co franchise. They must pass a certain standard
just as you did but our consent will not be unreasonably withheld.

What can I not do as a GoodWood & Co franchised contractor?
You cannot sell or apply any competitive product or any product that is not approved by us.
You must not misrepresent our products, divert from our recommended application methods
or resell our products without also applying them. You must not talk in a detrimental way about
other, possibly competitive, products.
